Accessing the Marketing QNAP/NAS File Storage Server

Summary

Summarizes the information required to access the QNAS server and its backup location.

Body

Marketing QNAP/NAS Information:

The marketing NAS has been added to the domain, and can use AD to authenticate users’ access. To give users permission to access the NAS, they will first need to be added to the Marketing-QNAP Access group in AD. This is only to be done at the request of the Director of Marketing and will likely be needed for any new Marketing team members.

Connecting to the Marking NAS

Please note the special instructions below for the Videographer, as their computer requires a slightly different setup.

For general users:

Create a shortcut on the desktop with the following target: \\10.102.35.232\homes\Marketing Admin. PLEASE NOTE: the quotations are required in the shortcut, due to the name of the folder containing a space.

Assuming the user has been added to the above group, they should be able to use the shortcut. If it requests any credentials, have them log in with their usual NLC username and password. I also like to add the link to their quick access, but this is not strictly necessary.

For the videographer:

The NAS as well as the videographer’s computer have two network ports, and due to the extremely large file sizes involved in that work, it should be directly connected to the NAS using the secondary port for optimal speeds. The IP address for this secondary port can be viewed on the display of the NAS itself, but the most recent address was 169.254.245.13, so the correct shortcut address for the videographer would be: \\169.254.245.13\homes\Marketing Admin. Otherwise, the instructions are the same as for general users.

For administration:

Use the following link: https://10.102.35.232/cgi-bin/ . The credentials are in the answers and 1password.  There are two sets of credentials.  I think that you need to use the “marketing admin” credentials to access all settings.

Back-ups:

The device does have a backup process occurring.  You need to be in the “marketing admin” account to see this under “HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync”.  See the following table for more info on backups:

Backup Server Name DC-MKTNAS01
Backup Server IP 10.102.235.230
Backup Server Type 50 TB QNAP with name TES-1885U
1password Name Marketing QNAP (50TB Unit)
